Pride events and Rainbow Book Month with NOLS

The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is celebrating Pride Month in June by offering family-friendly activities at Forks and Clallam Bay libraries, and providing free resources at other community events. June is also recognized as Rainbow Book Month, an initiative of the American Library Association that fosters community, understanding and access to LGBTQIA+ literature.

Library talk on 1942 Japanese American Exclusion and Bainbridge Island

As part of the One Book, One Coast community reading program, three branches of the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host a presentation about Bainbridge Island's unique experience during World War II. Ellen Sato Faust, Executive Director of the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial Association, will discuss the 1942 removal of 227 Bainbridge Island residents who were forced to leave behind the lives they had built.

Perinatal mental health art show opens May 1 with music by Sarah Shea jazz trio

Featuring artwork and poetry by 14 local community members and caregivers, “More than the Blues” brings attention to Perinatal Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Organized by First Step Family Support Center and the Clallam-Jefferson Perinatal Mental Health Task Force, the art exhibition opens with a free public reception on Friday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
