Port Angeles Main Library
February 9, 10am-12pm
March 9, 10am-12pm
Looking for a fun indoor activity for the kids? Bring them to the library to create and play at monthly Build It! programs. Kids will be encouraged to let their imaginations run free while they construct their own creations using LEGO® bricks.
Build It! programs will take place in the Library’s living room and will be facilitated by library staff. Participants will be encouraged to write a story about their creation, which will be photographed during the program. Parents or caregivers are asked to accompany all children under 8 years old. All materials will be provided. LEGO® bricks and creations will remain in the library at the conclusion of each program.
Research shows that creative play is important in the development of reading and critical thinking skills. Libraries from around the country offer programs using LEGO® bricks to encourage young people and families to play and build together.
The library’s LEGO® brick collection was built with the generous support of the North Olympic Library Foundation, the Port Angeles Friends of the Library, the Girl Scout Troop of Western Washington, and brick donations from library patrons. The Port Angeles Main Library has offered a building program periodically for several years, and currently uses the brick collection at outreach events, storytimes, and other events. If you wish to make a LEGO® brick donation to the Library, please contact Jennifer Knight at email@example.com or call 360.417.8500 x7733.
