The 2023 Summer Reading Program includes a free book, a Reading Challenge to earn a free T-shirt, chances to win awesome grand prizes, activities to encourage you to read, and free events for all ages!

Take the Summer Reading Challenge

ANYONE – FROM BABIES TO GROWN-UPS – CAN PLAY! JUST READ OR BE READ TO!

  • Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.
  • Kids and teens can stop by any NOLS branch to pick up a free book. Adults can stop by their branch for a coupon good for one free book from their local Friends of the Library group.

  • Set a reading goal! Decide how long you’d like to read each day.

  • Starting June 16, 2023 keep track of each day you read, listen, or are read to, using the online tracker in Beanstack. You can also pick up a tracking sheet at the library, if you like to track on paper, too.

  • Read, listen, or be read to for 30 days to earn a special Summer Reading Challenge T-shirt with a custom design by local artist and first Clallam County Poet Laureate, Jaiden Dokken, Clallam County Poet Laureate, and be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing!
  • Read, listen, or be read to for 60 days to receive a second entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.

  • All reading must be completed and tracked online or submitted to your NOLS branch by Saturday, August 26, 2023.
  • Grand Prize Drawings will happen at each branch on August 29, 2023. Winners will be notified and a list will be posted on this webpage.

The Summer Reading Lists are full of book titles to keep children engaged in reading throughout the summer. Each list is available here to download for free. Titles on the 2023 Summer Reading Lists were compiled and annotated by members of ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting Committee.
