March 13, 2026
We’ve all been looking forward to the opening of the new Sequim Library, and it’s finally happening!
The library at 630 N. Sequim Ave. opens to the public on Saturday, March 21, from 10am to 5pm, and staff are excited to welcome our community.
Everyone is invited to explore the new building, sign up for library cards, and check out materials. More services will roll out in the coming weeks, including the ability to reserve study and meeting rooms.
Tours of the new building will also be offered on March 24, 26, and 28 at 11am and 4pm, starting in the community meeting room, with no reservations required. We’ll point out special features designed with the community in mind, with quiet areas for reading and studying, a new children’s section, a dedicated teen space, gathering space, and free meeting rooms.
After receiving a permit from the City of Sequim on March 11 allowing us to let the public on site, we’re opening as quickly as possible so people can begin using and enjoying the library. Staff are planning a big community celebration later this summer with live music and other free activities.
A few finishing touches are still underway, including a cedar sun shade for the east window wall, irrigation updates, and additional landscaping, but the space is ready for library use.
The new building was funded through timber revenue, community donations, and state grants through the North Olympic Library System’s capital budget, not the library levy.
Holds pickup will continue at the Temporary Location Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 2-5pm, through March 19. Returns can be made anytime at the Temporary Location through March 21.
After opening day, regular hours at the new library resume March 23:
- Monday through Thursday: 10am to 7pm
- Friday: 9am to 6pm
- Saturday: 10am to 5pm
Thank you for your patience and support! We look forward to seeing you at the library soon.
