The online call for art is now closed.
Exhibition dates: November 20, 2026 – February 13, 2027

Thank you to all of the artists who applied! Youth may continue to enter art in-person (learn more below).

Opening Reception: November 20, 2026

Meet local artists and creators featured in the exhibition, enjoy a live DJ set, explore artwork inspired by comic books, graphic novels, and manga, and hear artists share more about their work and creative process.

About the Theme

Comic books are powerful storytelling tools that combine words and pictures to create a strong emotional impact. This helps writers and artists make big ideas easier to understand, express meaningful moments, or simply make us laugh and have fun. Comics can also inspire reluctant readers to grow their love for books.

Examples of the artwork entered includes a comic panel, feature iconic comic or manga characters from pop culture, or something created in a style inspired by comics, graphic novels, or manga.

Youth

Youth up to age 18 may drop off one completed work on an 8.5”x11” sheet of paper at the front desk of the Port Angeles Main Library. These works will be displayed on the library’s “slat” walls in acrylic holders. Depending on the number of works received, pieces may be rotated in and out during the show to ensure all works get a chance to shine!

Artwork Drop-off and Other Details

If your work is chosen for the exhibition, you will be contacted by NOLS for further information about display and other coordinating details. Selected artwork must be dropped off on Friday, November 6 or Saturday, November 7, at the Port Angeles Main Library. At the time of drop-off, artwork should be ready to hang or display. Artists and community members are invited to the exhibition opening reception, 6:30-8pm on Friday, November 20. Artwork must be picked up between February 15-17.

Art in the Library is generously funded in part by Port Angeles Friends of the Library.
