Applications now open
Deadline for submissions: Monday, May 4
Exhibition Dates: June 12-August 15, at the Port Angeles Main Library

Open call for art! People living on the Olympic Peninsula are invited to submit artwork inspired by agriculture and food for the “Farm to Table – Art in the Library” exhibition at the Port Angeles Main Library.

Adults, teens, and children of all artistic experience levels are encouraged to enter. The exhibition is part of the all-ages Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is “Plant a Seed, Read.”

Creative work in any format and medium will be considered—from veggie-inspired finger painting to sculpture, video, poetry, and more.

About the Theme

Food nourishes the body and feeds the soul, connecting us to our family, culture, and ecology. For artistic inspiration, think about where food comes from and how it nourishes us. Your artwork might be about farming, gardening, foraging, local produce, cooking, and more.

How to Enter

Please enter up to two original works of art per person. Entry is free. Due to space limitations, not all artwork will be chosen for display. If selected for the exhibition, you may list your artwork for sale and handle the sale directly; NOLS does not take a commission. Any sold artwork will remain on display through August 15.

Submit your artwork and information on the online form. Required information includes:

  • Artist name and contact information for artist (or parent/guardian for youth).
  • A brief description of the artwork you’d like to exhibit including the title, date created, and materials/format.
  • Dimensions and/or display needs.
  • Images of the artwork—in a file size less than 10MB, or a link to digital media or performance art.
  • The city, area, or Tribal nation that you consider home.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, May 4. Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of Library staff.

Artwork Drop-off and Other Details

If your work is chosen for the exhibition, you will be contacted by NOLS for further information about display and other coordinating details. Selected artwork must be dropped off on Thursday, June 4, or Friday, June 5, at the Port Angeles Main Library. At the time of drop-off, artwork should be ready to hang or display. Artists and community members are invited to the exhibition opening reception, 6:30-8pm on Friday, June 12. Artwork must be picked up between August 17-19.

About the Summer Reading Program: Plant A Seed, Read
