There have continued to be delays on some of the specialized components and framing for the building’s large storefront windows, which has impacted other finish work from being completed. Some of those parts began to arrive in October, allowing windows and doors in the building’s entry and children’s area to begin to be installed. Being able to see the new views from inside the library is very exciting! With many of the bunker-like concrete walls of the old building now gone, the Olympic Mountains can now be seen from throughout the south side of the building. You can also look through the entire length of the building, from the seating areas outside the entrance to the outdoor children’s area and new stage.

The last of the specially fabricated pieces for the large “curtain wall” on the east side of the building are expected to arrive in early November. The east wall has been temporarily covered in plywood, to allow interior finish work to continue, but will soon be opened and converted to an entire wall of windows, adding to the great new views from the Sequim Library.

Exciting progress is being made and we anticipate that the new building will open this winter. More information will be shared with Sequim Library patrons and the community when NOLS is able to confirm when it will start moving into the new building and open it to the public.
