Second Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm
October 2017 — May 2018
Discover the joy of reading with a little help from some furry friends at the Sequim Branch Library! The PAWS to Read program will connect readers with Olympic Gentle Paws Therapy dogs beginning October 10 at 3:30pm. Dogs and their trainers will eagerly listen to readers of all ages from 3:30-4:30pm on the second Tuesday of every month, October through May.
Reading to a dog or other pet provides a non–judgmental audience and encourages reading with confidence in a supportive and fun atmosphere. Research shows that the more a child reads, the more their reading skills will improve. For nervous or self–conscious readers, reading to therapy dogs can be a helpful way to practice reading without feelings of intimidation or judgment.
