Many of us are heading inside earlier than we did a month ago, with sunset arriving closer to dinnertime, leaving us a couple hours indoors at the end of the day. This is a great time to connect with a new book, watch a movie or listen to an audiobook as you work on a craft. If you’re looking for something to read or watch, the library has endless options. The Sequim Branch Library is currently full of books, DVDs and audiobooks waiting to be checked out and come home with you. While the library building is closed to the public, it remains open for curbside holds pick up.

Curbside hours recently shifted to new fall hours, in response to community feedback for earlier and consistent hours. You can now visit library curbside at the Sequim Branch from 10am-6pm Monday and Wednesday, and 10am-4pm Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If you don’t have a NOLS card, it’s easy to get a temporary one online at www.nols.org/library-card. Bring your photo ID to curbside to pick up your new card.

For those who miss browsing the shelves at the library, consider NOLS Grab Bag service. While it’s not the same as browsing, it does offer a chance to discover new titles in subject areas you choose. NOLS is now offering the Grab Bag service for books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs. Simply fill out the form at www.nols.org/grab-bag with your preferences, and staff will grab an assortment of items off the shelf for you. You’ll receive a notification when it’s ready for pickup, within a day or two.

The NOLS Grab Bag is great for families and kids who enjoy reading a variety of picture books or Early Reader books, and aren’t necessarily looking for specific authors or titles. Just good books! It’s a great service for everyone – mystery-lovers, romance readers, cookbook aficionados, fantasy fans and anyone who enjoys a variety of books, movies and music.

If you’d like more personalized reading recommendations, check out BookMatch at www.nols.org/bookmatch. Using information you provide about your reading history and preferences (as much or as little as you want), staff will create a customized booklist for you.

InterLibrary Loan is an additional service offered by NOLS. If the library does not own a title you’re interested in reading, staff can request to borrow it from other libraries world-wide. If you don’t see what you’re looking for in the NOLS catalog, you can make a request and staff will do their best to find it for you.

If you prefer to read downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks, check out the Libby app, or download movies, music, and audiobooks through the hoopla app. These resources are available for free with your library card.

Library staff are available by phone at 360.683.1161 or email Discover@nols.org. Library services have adapted to current health requirements and staff are still available to help connect you to resources and to your next great read. Don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you curbside!
