    December 23, 2020 – From January 1- 31, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will participate in Beanstack’s Fourth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Simon & Schuster.   • Book Clubs for Teens and Tweens

    December 23, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) invites tweens and teens to participate in online book groups from February through April. To join, just pick up a Words Matter (grades 5-9) or Teens Read (grades 9-12) Book Club set at any NOLS branch beginning January 5, and register at nols.org to receive the zoom login for after-school book discussions with library staff.   • Teen Lit Bags: A Subscription Service for Teens

    December 22, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is excited to announce that teens can now subscribe to a monthly book service just for them! Readers in grades 7-12 may sign up to receive a monthly book bag to be picked up curbside. Read Full Article

  • Curbside Printing Service Available at Library

    December 18, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) has launched a new curbside printing service for community members. Submit a file online, visit your local NOLS branch curbside, and library staff will print your documents when you arrive. This service is free and limited to 25 sheets per day, during library curbside service. Read Full Article

    November 30, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is excited to announce the launch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Now, children under the age of five who live in Clallam County can register to receive a free book in the mail every month!   • Advance Care Planning: Making Future Health Care Choices

    November 02, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will present Advance Care Planning discussions through Zoom in November. Olympic Medical Center staff will discuss future and end-of-life health care choices and help you to start making a plan.   • 2020-2021 Battle of the Books

    October 28, 2020 – Fourth graders throughout Clallam County are invited to participate in the North Olympic Library System’s (NOLS) Battle of the Books program for 2020-21.     October 27, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host four virtual Book Discussion Group meetings in November. Paperback copies of the upcoming book selections will be available for pick up any time after the current month’s discussion, during curbside service hours at the Port Angeles Main Library or Sequim Branch Library (see location notations below) on a first-come, first-served basis.     October 16, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS), in partnership with the Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts (JFFA), is hosting a celebration that honors el Día de los Muertos, a traditional holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and parts of the United States, which honors and remembers friends and family members who have passed on.     October 16, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System will give a copy of Stamped by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds to 100 Clallam County families.   • Meet Author and Illustrator Angela Dominguez

    October 09, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) invites you to meet award-winning author and illustrator Angela Dominguez on Tuesday, October 20 at 12pm through Zoom for a conversation about her career. Dominguez is the author and illustrator of the Stella Díaz series and has illustrated several picture books, including MangoAbuela and Me, and María Had a Little Llama. Her book, Stella Díaz Has Something to Say, will be one of NOLS’ 2020-21 Battle of the Books selections. Read Full Article

  • 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

    October 8, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge has moved online to encourage parents and caregivers to continue to read with the children in their lives. The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children and earn incentives along the way. Read 1,000 books with the children in your life before they begin kindergarten to help instill key language and vocabulary skills. All children up to age 5 are encouraged to participate.     October 07, 2020 – All libraries in the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will be closed on Thursday, October 15, to allow staff to attend an annual in-service training day.   • NOLS Celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day

    October 05, 2020 – Indigenous Peoples’ Day is recognized on the second Monday in October, to honor the past, present, and future of Native Americans in the United States.   • NOLS offers Resilience Kits

    September 30, 2020 – The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is celebrating Resilience Month by offering free Resilience Kits through Curbside Pickup, beginning Monday, October 5. The kits provide a variety of activities and tools to help build resilience and support self-care. Psychologists define resilience as adaptation in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, or significant sources of stress. Read Full Article

  • Library Changes Curbside Hours, Expands Services

    September 29, 2020 – In June, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) began offering Curbside Service, providing holds pickup, Grab Bags, returns, library cards, free masks, and a pickup location for a variety of kits used during remote library programs. Since starting Curbside Service in mid-June, NOLS branches have been visited over 20,000 times and nearly 60,000 items have been checked out. Read Full Article

  • PA YMCA and FAAC passes available again at NOLS

    September 29, 2020 – Get back to exercise with the North Olympic Library System (NOLS), YMCA of Port Angeles, and the Forks Athletic & Aquatic Club (FAAC)! The exercise facilities are back open with health and safety precautions in place, and free passes are available through NOLS. NOLS library card holders may borrow each pass for up to one week.   • NOLS Offering Library Cards Curbside

    August 07, 2020 – In June the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) began offering Curbside Service, providing holds pickup, Grab Bags, returns, and now physical library cards! NOLS has received almost 600 new library card registrations online since the beginning of March 2020 when its facilities were closed to the public due to COVID-19.   • No Small Matter Film Screening and Local Panel

    July 27, 2020 – As part of the Summer Reading Program, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is presenting ReThink Journals for All Ages. During this virtual workshop, create a one-of-a-kind journal to write your story in using simple, easy to find materials from around your home and/or simple kits from the library.   • NOLS Grab Bags: Let Library staff do the browsing for you

    July 25, 2020 – Beginning July 24, North Olympic Library System (NOLS) patrons can request a Grab Bag on the library’s website. Each bag will contain up to 10 hand-picked items from the library’s collection that patrons can pick up during curbside checkout. Patrons should allow up to two business days for their request to be processed; automatic holds notifications will be sent when items are ready for pickup. The new service will be available during regular curbside service hours at all four branches. Patrons without internet access can call their local branch to have library staff complete the Grab Bag request form for them. Read Full Article

    July 14, 2020 – As part of the Summer Reading Program, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) invites kids ages 6-12 to build their own toolbox with an adult, using provided kits and following along with a demo on Facebook.   • North Olympic Library System Begins Accepting Returns

    June 17, 2020 – In early June, Washington State issued new guidance allowing libraries to offer limited service in Phase 2 of the Safe Start Plan. While the guidance does not yet allow the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) to open its facilities to the public, it does allow the Library to start on the path to reopening by offering curbside returns and holds pickup. Read Full Article

  • “Drive-In WiFi Hotspot” Available for Free Internet Use
