NOLS and SilverKite Community Arts collaborated on a Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 for an early virtual celebration of Juneteenth presented by The Mahogany Project. Juneteenth is the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was declared a holiday in 1986.
The online interactive workshop explores the history, legacy and lasting impact of Juneteenth. Take a journey from the past to the present with music, drumming, storytelling and reflection. Artists featured include Niela Maryam, Bernie Hall and Merri Ann Osborne.
