Learn from author John Kopp through his history talk, “From Oars to Engines: The Rescue Boat Crews of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and U.S. Coast Guard.”

The U.S. Coast Guard ensures our country’s maritime safety, security, and stewardship. Rescue boat crews are vital to this mission.

Kopp, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Cape Disappointment rescue boat crew, will provide an overview of the history and evolution of the U.S. Coast Guard’s rescue boat community.

The author will host a book signing and have copies of his book, CG 41332: Surfmen, the Cape Disappointment Motor Lifeboat School, and the Forgotten Tragedy that Transformed U.S. Coast Guard Boat Operations, available to purchase.

This program is generously supported in part by local Friends of the Library groups.
