Adaptive Technology The Port Angeles Branch of the North Olympic Library System is provides an adaptive computer for visually impaired and physically handicapped patrons. This large-screen computer has various programs, which should make using the library easier for individuals needing specialized software to access library materials and information on-line. The computer is located just north of the checkout counter, in a small alcove area. Our closed circuit magnifier is also in the same area. Please check with Reference staff before using this special computer.
In addition to the Library's Catalog and Internet Access, software programs available include:
The library also has a large Microsoft EasyBall mouse, earphones and an adjustable table for the computer. A cassette player is available for listening to instruction tapes. We have large print instructions and cassette tapes to help patrons get started with the programs. A volunteer will also be available to show patrons the basics of how to begin. Please call the library for a mutually agreeable date and time for training sessions: (360)417-8503 (outreach to the Homebound). Last revised December 08, 2006 |
